Begin sprak gewoon over zichzelf.

Let me first state that there is a sort of pause in the hostilities. For the time being, there is only a political war. A verbal war, waged primarily by Trump. The way he is waging this verbal war is largely incoherent and full of contradictions.
An example:
The midterm elections are approaching. Trump has consistently stated that (due to the elections) he would continue his role in the original Israeli war against Iran after the elections. Now, Trump wants to attack Iran before the midterm elections.
Trump's Middle East policy is characterized by fickle politics, and has been so since the beginning of the war. It is one of the factors explaining why the war against Iran continues.
The most important factor is also the cause of the continuation of the war:
Trump single-handedly ended the ceasefire and, with it, the memorandum of understanding. The cause of both terminations is the idiosyncratic and arbitrary interpretation of the memorandum by the Americans. An example:
The memorandum states, among other things:
"After signing this memorandum of understanding, the Islamic Republic of Iran will endeavor to the best of its ability to guarantee the safe passage of commercial vessels, free of charge for only 60 days, from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and vice versa."
The passage can be interpreted literally as leaving the choice to Iran regarding the manner in which the arrangements are made, provided this is done "to the best of one's ability" and without additional measures. However, Trump did as he pleased by dictating how Iran had to make the choice, and doing so under threat.
In the same paragraph 5 of the memorandum, the following can be read:
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will determine the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz in consultation with the Sultanate of Oman, in consultation with other coastal states of the Persian Gulf, in accordance with applicable international law and the sovereign rights of the coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz."
The passage clearly shows that Trump leaves the consultation regarding Hormuz to Iran and Oman, but that both countries do involve neighboring countries in it. However, Trump did get involved by influencing Oman.
The way the Americans handled the memorandum is indeed the beginning of the continuation of the war. With that, the title question is answered.
Signals have been reported indicating that both Trump and Netanyahu are preparing for the resumption of the war against Iran. It would not surprise me if the war indeed takes place before the midterms in November.
However, any resumption of the war against Iran, whenever it occurs, will be the cause of the consequences the global economy will experience. We have already experienced this and are still experiencing it. The upcoming resumption is simply throwing more oil on a fire that has been burning for months.
Netanyahu already stated during his election campaign that he would try to overthrow the Iranian regime again.
Last week, Israeli fighter jets flew through Syrian and Iraqi airspace to conduct exercises over the Iraqi-Iranian border region. This in itself constitutes a violation of the airspace of three countries and a failure to respect the territorial sovereignty of those countries.
The Israelis have a long history of sovereignty violations. The most shocking instance is Lebanon between 2013 and 2015. At the time, the Israelis used that country as a shield to attack Iranian targets in Syria from Lebanese airspace, ensuring that any potential response is directed at the source of the airstrike: Lebanon, in other words.
The attempt to bomb a Hamas delegation in Doha while the delegation intended to discuss a ceasefire proposal in Gaza.
Many of us will have forgotten or are completely unaware of the Israeli airstrike on an ammunition factory in Khartoum, Sudan.
Why did the Israelis violate the sovereignty of those countries?
The link is a doctrine introduced in 1968 by the then Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, who stated during the United Nations General Assembly that "one must be assured that the enemy does not possess a reactor."
Ironically, it turned out that not a single country present viewed another country as a nuclear enemy, let alone that those countries were considering nuclear weapons at the time. Begin was simply speaking about himself. However, he did not realize that by doing so, he was also defending the covert possession of three nuclear weapons that had been produced a year earlier.
Begin's words, that one must be assured that the enemy does not possess a reactor, were nothing more than saying that one must attack preemptively to prevent the enemy from starting construction of a reactor at all. His "plea" was nothing more than an announcement that 'Israel' will do everything in its power to remain the sole nuclear power in the region. This is the historical core of the war against Iran.
----------
I am not a politician or anything of the sort. This position therefore gives me the freedom to have my own opinion regarding the war against Iran:
The tenacity in Trump's Middle East policy can be traced back primarily to two aspects: Trump as a person and the historical background of the relationship between the United States and the Israelis.
Anyone who has read the two books—Too Much Is Never Enough and Who Could Ever Love You—by Mary L. Trump, Donald Trump's niece, will certainly have noticed that Trump is described as a destructive person.
The author warns in her books that her uncle—and I quote: "is the most dangerous person in the world." He is described as someone who creates conflicts himself, but places the blame on the affected individuals or on the resulting situation. Trump displays such behavior at the official level as well. One may well suspect borderline personality disorder.
In the context of the war, the situation is somewhat different, because it is not Trump, but Netanyahu who started the war on June 13, 2025, of which the current war is a continuation. At most, Trump is the one who declared war on Iran, because Netanyahu cannot issue that declaration due to the declaration of war issued by Levy Eshkol as Israeli Prime Minister against Arab countries on June 15, 1967. This declaration has never been revoked.
In the continuation of the 2025 war, Trump assumed the position of the attacking belligerent party from Netanyahu. This occurred when Netanyahu began to focus on Lebanon.
American Middle East policy is not driven solely by self-interest. The policy is primarily based on the interests of the Israelis. The source of this is not only the historical ties since May 14, 1948. Since the founding of the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs (AZCPA) in 1954, later AIPAC, American Middle East policy has been strongly influenced by Israeli interference.
In the United States, Trump's participation, and later his takeover of Netanyahu's war against Iran, is deemed illegal, particularly among Democrats. The latter may refer to the US Constitution.
However, both the war of June 2025 and the resumption of that war on February 28 of this year are illegal in any case, because both wars were fought across the borders of other countries and the airspace of those countries was used. A UN mandate is required for this, and Netanyahu and Trump did not have one.
Furthermore, the Americans have bases in those countries. If these countries allow the Americans to use their territory for attacks on Iran, then these countries are violating international law regarding the responsibilities one has when providing aid to a belligerent nation. They can then be classified as complicit.
I refer not only to the Gulf States, but also to Great Britain and its base in Cyprus, Germany (Ramstein), and in fact all EU member states that allow American military aircraft to use their airspace. After all, allowing American military aircraft to pass over the airspace of any consenting country is a contribution to aggression and violence in a war waged by Trump.
