I have been participating in a project that documents the situation in Syria since the second month of 2011, which is more than ten years.
However, I don't want to write about its history from the beginning to the present. That would result in a book, while I only like to write short stories. So, I will put most of Syria's history aside to focus on the fall of the Assad family's rule, which lasted more than half a century.
On December 7, 2024, various groups in Idlib province, belonging to the Hay'at Tahir al-Sham, gathered near the border of Aleppo province to prepare for a large-scale offensive. I will not join the rhetoric about who is aiding and funding the group or who is behind the pre-preparation as both are politics. You need evidence, not copies of headlines from a (news) article or the whole article.
I was surprised to see how rapidly the offensive ran, how fast, and that within a week. From Aleppo City to Hama City to Homs City to end up in the capital. The Russians helped Assad and his family to flee by plane. But all sorts of rumors posted on social media claiming that the plane crashed because it went off the radar, remarkably on two locations at the same time (east of Damascus and north of Homs City), have led people to believe that the Assad family were killed. However, the Russian pilot just turned off the responder. Assad was reported to be in Moscow on December 8th.
The Israelis have been attacking Syria for years. Initially, because of two buildings for nuclear purposes then because of the presence of Hezbollah and Iran in the country. The latter at least since 2013. So, it is not new to me. But, they have been increasing their attacks since the fall of the Assad regime. That took my attention. Between December 8th and December 16th, more than 500 sorties were carried out to target and destroy all of the Syrian military. Now, why are they doing that?
It is at least not a tactical move as it is about increasing their preemptive attacks, so offensive. In my opinion, they have several motives.
First of all, they say that there is still a threat from Syria while news from the past reports that the Israelis are one of the parties who have a link with the Jihadists. I even remember that they treated wounded Jihadist fighters some years ago. The presence of Jihadists in Syria has always been in the interest of the Israelis because of Assad's relationship with Iran.
The way the Israelis are boosting their attacks reminds me of the Menachem Begin doctrine, which says "Make sure that no enemy has a nuclear reactor." Well, you can translate that into "Make sure that no enemy has an army." Because, in 1967, the Israelis have chosen not to sign peace with Syria. They just simply want Syria to remain their enemy. Why?
It has at least nothing to do with Iran as there was no political alliance between Syria and Iran that year. It has to do with a desire that hardline Israelis are openly showing on social media and openly expressing in meetings, interviews, and even in the circus that they call "Knesset" but secretly adopted by Netanyahu in his politics. The desire was even shown during a conference that was held in Paris. "Greater Israel."
So, what has Syria to do with "Greater Israel"? In biblical times, Syria, but also the eastern part of Lebanon, was part of the Kingdom Of David. The kingdom did not include half of Saudi Arabia or half of Egypt. Still, an Israeli army badge shows a different Kingdom of David. That prompts me to accuse the Israelis of having different intentions than what they claim and their supporters are parroting, that the Israelis have the right to defend themselves.

The Israelis are just exploiting the downfall of the Assad regime. Because bombing all that is left of the Syrian army is just making it easier to follow their path to a 21st-century Kingdom of David.
They are doing it in small steps so as not to wake up the world and then show their indifference by publicly announcing that the circus (Knesset) supposedly approved the doubling of the population on the Golan Heights, in violation of the position the Israelis have had since 1967 as an occupying belligerent, and as a signatory to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement subjected to the buffer zone on the Golan Heights.
However, the Israelis have a notorious reputation when it comes to adherence to the Customary International Law, which is subjected to any party that is (still) in a stage of war. The list of violations and crimes is that long to prompt to find that the Israelis don't recognize international law when it is against them. They then would say it is "antisemitism" like when anyone criticizes them.
But the developments they have produced since December 8, 2024, have all hallmarks of an attempt religionized imperialism while those who support the Israelis, and the Israelis themselves were talking a lot about ISIL's desired caliphate that the group wanted to establish in Syria. However, the hardline Israelis are seeking an empire across multiple countries in the Middle East.
